Duties * Oversees directives, policies, procedures, and programs affecting the acquisition, materiel development, fielding, distribution, redistribution, supply and maintenance support, readiness and disposition of major systems and support equipment. * Manages, monitors, and coordinates fielding and deployment of new systems ensuring adequacy of user/support personnel and equipment. * Coordinates and conducts new equipment training and ensures facilities are conducive to new equipment. * Ensures proper transition of support from Materiel Developer (MATDEV) to the Standard Army Maintenance System. * Analyzes and evaluates materiel fielding plans, "get well plans," studies, technical reports, maintenance and supply data, contractor's studies, and material developed by DOD activities, other government agencies and private industry. * Represents the command at meetings and conferences within FORSCOM and at higher, lateral, and subordinate commands. * Ensuring system logistical support is in place during the "Life Cycle' of the system using all or a combination of various systems; AND identifies shortages, deficiencies, problems and capabilities by interacting with users. * Monitors system and item asset inventory; resolving FORSCOM excess and shortage shortfalls by redistributing and distributing assets throughout FORSCOM. * Provides technical advice, guidance and assistance on transportation and traffic management aspects of the movement of Army units in support of contingency plans, joint maneuvers, exercises and other operational commitments. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Must obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. * Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. * This is a Term position scheduled to last 2 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management. * Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights. * This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing materiel management supply/support, force modernization, and overseeing all logistics matters for assigned systems and related support equipment; AND overseeing logistics plans and programs to include the fielding and deployment of new systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
