Duties * Oversees directives, policies, procedures, and programs affecting the acquisition, materiel development, fielding, distribution, redistribution, supply and maintenance support, readiness and disposition of major systems and support equipment. * Manages, monitors, and coordinates fielding and deployment of new systems ensuring adequacy of user/support personnel and equipment. * Coordinates and conducts new equipment training and ensures facilities are conducive to new equipment. * Ensures proper transition of support from Materiel Developer (MATDEV) to the Standard Army Maintenance System. * Analyzes and evaluates materiel fielding plans, "get well plans," studies, technical reports, maintenance and supply data, contractor's studies, and material developed by DOD activities, other government agencies and private industry. * Represents the command at meetings and conferences within FORSCOM and at higher, lateral, and subordinate commands. * Ensuring system logistical support is in place during the "Life Cycle' of the system using all or a combination of various systems; AND identifies shortages, deficiencies, problems and capabilities by interacting with users. * Monitors system and item asset inventory; resolving FORSCOM excess and shortage shortfalls by redistributing and distributing assets throughout FORSCOM. * Provides technical advice, guidance and assistance on transportation and traffic management aspects of the movement of Army units in support of contingency plans, joint maneuvers, exercises and other operational commitments. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management. * Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period.
