Our client is hiring a Controller to oversee all financial activities, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. This role involves managing the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate has 5 years of Controller experience, a background in the construction industry, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and enjoys working in a team.
As the Financial Controller, you'll focus on the following:
Oversight of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Experience with "Cost to Complete", implementing financial strategies, managing cash flow and payroll.
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles and oversee the preparation and submission of financial statements. Work with external firms as needed.
Prepare annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with department heads, monitor performance and conduct variance analysis to explain differences between actual results and budgeted figures monthly.
Conduct financial analysis to provide insight and recommendations and evaluate performance to identify areas for improvement.
Oversee and manage the month-end close-out process and documentation and ensure all reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments are accurately completed.
Required skills and experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
CPA or CMA certification.
5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the commercial construction industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and MS Office.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication with the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.
