As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), you will perform and interpret testsatall complexity levels. Some of your duties include:
Correlating abnormal laboratory data with pathological states.
Determining the validity of test results through monitoring and/or verifying quality controls, standards, etc.
Communicating test results, reference ranges, specimen requirements, and other pertinent information to authorized sources.
Determining the need for additional tests.
The ideal future caregiver is someone who:
Demonstrates and understanding of the theory and scientific principles of laboratory testing as well as the technical, procedural, and problem-solving aspects.
Is certified as a Medical Technologist (MT) or is certification eligible and willing to obtain within one year, from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
Thrives working both independently and as part of a team.
Can multitask while staying organized and paying attention to details.
