SCHOOL COUNSELOR LICENSURE
- Candidates must hold or be eligible to hold a current license in School Counseling (005).
- Non-licensed, provisional licensure candidates are eligible based upon holding a Master's degree in a related area with a minimum 2.7 GPA or holding a Bachelor's degree and having completed at least 24 semester hours of graduate courses in a School Counseling Master's degree program. A provisional license in School Counseling requires completion of an approved School Counseling program at the Master's level or above within three years of the effective date of the license.
- Examples of related Master's degrees include:
- Addiction Counseling, Career Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, College Counseling, Marriage Counseling, Couples Counseling, Family Counseling, or Rehabilitation Counseling
- Eligibility for the provisional license must be established prior to a contract offer.
