CLEVELAND GROUP is Hiring a Cost Accountant Near Atlanta, GA

About the Role:
As the Cost Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in meticulously managing and monitoring the expenses for two construction projects, while conducting thorough variance analysis. Your duties will encompass preparing and scrutinizing cost reports, conducting cost audits, and carefully assessing any atypical cost records. It will be your responsibility to guarantee the accurate allocation of labor and material expenses. Additionally, you'll ensure adherence to client contractual obligations concerning project cost tracking.
In this Role You Will:
  • Daily data entry of labor hours from field supervision to appropriate cost codes and activity codes.
  • Compiling and entry of material and cost data from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Assist in monthly cost projections for labor and materials to be used for accurate invoicing.
  • Assist in monthly preparation and analysis of actual and projected values of labor and materials.
  • Performs month-end processes including reporting and reconciliations.
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely submittal of cost and invoice data.
  • Support corporate Accounts Payable and Purchasing functions to ensure accurate and timely input and posting of vendor and subcontractor invoice data for assigned projects. Report to the project team any invoicing issues.
  • Regularly audit cost data and reconcile project records to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in addition to compliance with contract requirements, GAAP and company policy.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Cost Accounting and Accrual Based Accounting preferred
  • Construction experience preferred
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel Skills and Google Workspace
  • Ability to analyze processes to identify problems and make recommendations for resolution
