The Cleveland Park Club is currently seeking two swim instructors for the summer!

There is a part-time position from late May until labor day weekend in September ( typical hours are 9:00am-3:00pm, Mon-Fri as well as alternating Sat and Sun mornings till 12 pm. Start and end dates are flexible.

Applicants should have previous experience teaching swim lessons or have completed a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course and enjoy working with young children in the 3 to 11 age group.

Applicants must possess a valid CPR/First Aid Certification, or have the ability to obtain their certification before the start of our summer program

About the Program:

The Cleveland Park Club is a private social and recreational organization where members of the community gather to swim, enjoy potluck dinners, and attend adult and children’s activities. Our swim classes focus on developing basic water skills and stroke proficiency, while encouraging personal growth. Group lessons are available to members and non-members for children ages 3 to 11. Private and semi-private lessons are available for children and adults of any age, members only. We offer a fun, safe, and friendly learning environment for participants to become stronger, more confident swimmers.

Job Duties/Details:

• Implement the Cleveland Park Club’s swim program curriculum
• Provide students with written and verbal feedback, including progress reports
• Maintain enthusiasm and focus throughout busy days
• Recognize and respond adeptly in emergencies in accordance with facility protocols
• Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

• At least 16 years old
• At least 3 months of experience as a camp counselor, coach, or similar job (preferred, but not required)
• Must possess a valid CPR/First Aid Certification, or be able to obtain certification by May 30th.
• Experience teaching swimming to the 3 to 6 age group and previous certification for taking a Water Safety Instructor course (preferred).

• Proficient swimming ability
• Patient, energetic, compassionate, enthusiastic, and reliable
• Passion for teaching and working with children ages 3 to 6
• Desire to solve problems in a cooperative manner, take initiative, and assume responsibility
• Capable of maintaining a positive attitude under any circumstance
• Able to effectively communicate with parents, staff, and children
