As a Software Engineer at Forj, you’ll be responsible for delivering high value products and end-user experiences while improving yourself and those around you each day. You are both service- and detail-oriented, comfortable individually shepherding ideas into reality, as well as pairing up with other teammates on large, complex projects. Strong collaborators with craftsperson tendencies and an inherent sense of ownership will thrive here.

In this role, you will specialize in:

• Building performant APIs and end-user experiences
• Integrating monitoring, alerting, and data into your decision-making process while delivering production software to customers
• A reputation for reliably delivering well-considered, well-tested and performant code product(s)
• Contributions to our evolving development and testing standards and best practices
• High collaboration with Design Product, ensuring balanced code complexity and UX

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in software engineering creating web applications using React and Ruby on Rails.
• Education: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science is beneficial.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in writing Javascript and CSS (ES6/7, CSS3, Semantic markup); designing REST APIs; experience with modern developer workflows and tools (Git/Github, CI, etc); experience writing tests for your code at all layers (RSpec, Jasmine/Jest); solid understanding of foundational software design patterns
• Communication Skills: Your philosophy aligns with Agile methodologies and processes; comfort with and confidence in giving and receiving feedback in code reviews; confidence pairing with other engineer
• Must be in Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin or within commutable distance from either city
