Job Details

Job Location: CSVS Airport - Salinas, CA
Salary Range: $31.45 - $47.75 Hourly

Description

Attend inner-agency and/or community meeting to become familiar with the social services available. Disseminate this information to farm workers.

Develop or update a simple survey in English/ Spanish (or other language as appropriate) to assess the basic social and medical farm worker needs.

Provide referrals (i.e.., medical care, medicine, social services) and follow up

Prepare and conduct culturally and linguistically appropriate health education presentations on hypertension, diabetes, tuberculosis, pesticide exposure, and other topics identified by farm workers.

Map (or update existing maps) area migrant housing served by CSVS.

Document farm worker encountered statistics, using appropriate forms.

Compile (or update) a manual on social services and health agencies in the area that

Assists farmworkers.

Visits with farmworkers where they live and gather share health information.

Counsels and inform the patient population about the medical and dental services available to them through CSVS.

Continually remains informed of changes to programs and eligibility requirements to include but, not limited to SOFP, VFC, BCEDP, EAPCS, Medical, Medicare, etc.

Assists in scheduling of patients for services at clinics throughout the country.

Brings patient concerns to the attention of the administration and providers.

Keeps Outreaching Coordinator informed of local community events.

Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with another department

Ensures documentation meets current standard and policies.

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

Treats all patients, family and fellow staff members with respect and dignity.

Maintains established office policies and procedures, objective, performance improvements programs, safety, environmental infection control standards.

Answers telephone calls in a professional manner, directs calls appropriately.

Maintains a good working relationship with all staff members of the office, working as a team and performing teamwork duties as needed.

Managers and operates equipment safely and correctly.

Provides accurate translation from one language to the other, Mixteco, Spanish, and English.

Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.

Attends clinic meetings, annual review, and in-services as scheduled.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, Public Health, Biological Sciences, or related field
  • Minimum of one year work experience in public contact job, preferably service relayed.
  • Experience or interested in healthcare.
  • CPR BLS certification current and expired.
  • Automobile, valid driver’s license and adequate insurance required.
  • Fluent in Mixteco

Language Skills:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in Mixtec language.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively in Spanish, both verbally and in writing.

Skills:

  • Excellent computer knowledge, word processing and database management.
  • Previous experience working underserved populations, multicultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to communicate well under pressure and provide.
  • Ability to work independently and with underserved population, multicultural sensitivity.

Environmental/Working Conditions Skills:

  • Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings.
  • Well-lighted, well-ventilated, adequate space.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to clinic setting.
