Clinton Community Schools is Hiring a K-5 Assistant Principal (2024-2025) Near Clinton, MI

Purpose Statement: The Assistant Principal shall serve under the direct supervision of the Elementary Principal and Superintendent.


SUPERVISES:

  • Teaching Staff
  • Other Professional Staff
  • All Non-Professional Staff
  • Other resource and service personnel while working in the school

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree or higher, with a major concentration of work in educational administration.
  • Current Michigan Administrator Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the entire school community.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instruction at the K-5 level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Appreciation and experience in supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as working with diverse situations.
  • Knowledge and belief in instructional best practices that meet the developmental and individualized needs of all students.
  • Minimum of five (5) years teaching preferred and/or administrative experience.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.

JOB GOAL: Assists the Principal to provide instructional leadership to staff including: curriculum planning, review and implementation, and professional development. Assists in the day to day building administration and the safety and welfare of students, staff, volunteers, and activities. Leads the staff in the implementation of quality instruction. Ensures a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary and enforces school policy. Assists the Principal to manage employees in the Elementary School. Supports the Principal in setting the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the staff within the school. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, making recommendations for hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Principal will assist the Principal to:

  • Assist in the supervision of student conduct outside the classroom to include attendance and student transfers.
  • Assist in the day-to-day building management and student support needs.
  • Assist in SAT process as well as all student related meetings, including 504 and IEP.
  • Manages all building staff and provides general supervision to students.
  • Create a master schedule to effectively utilize available resources.
  • Facilitate in-service training/professional development for staff.
  • Supervise extra-curricular activities.
  • Create and encourage a building vision.
  • Direct the staff in addressing the needs of all students through differentiated instruction.
  • Establish priorities for educational materials to meet the needs of students.
  • Assist in the cafeteria and playground student supervision.
  • Assist in all non-classroom student activities to include school assemblies, after school activities, and student enrollment.
  • Assist in coordination of all school-related testing.
  • Receive and process discipline referrals.
  • Support PreK-12 program as needed.
  • Evaluate staff as per delegation by Elementary Principal or the Superintendent.
  • Instructional and curricular leadership through the development of appropriate programs and expectations.
  • Ensure quality instruction is taking place in all classrooms.
  • Implemenet and enforce disciplinary policies, working with teachers and staff to address behavioral issues and promote a positive culture and oversee the MTSS process.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

  • Adequate vision to perform duties.

  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  • Demonstrates awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and related software.
