cloverleaf Local Schools is Hiring a Basketball Cheerleading Coach - Middle School SY24/25 Near Lodi, OH

Title: Cheerleading Coach - 8th Grade
Reports to: Athletic Director, principal, local superintendent
Work Activity Classification: Medium
Employment Status: Part-time
FLSA Status: Exempt

Qualifications:

1. State of Ohio Teacher’s Certificate (preferred, not required)
3. Coaching and administrative abilities
4. Obtain Pupil Activity Supervision Validation & CPR Certification
5. Ability to relate to and inspire young athletes
6. Knowledge of the care of and prevention of athletic injuries
7. Organizational skills/resources to enhance the program
8. Skill in oral presentations
9. Able to get along with other coaches
10. Desire to invest time during season
11. Knowledge of training and conditioning techniques
12. Ability to diagnose player deficiencies/prescribe corrective activities
13. Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of tasks assigned

Essential Functions:

    1. Attend:
    2. Athletic Boosters Club meetings
    3. Athletic Council meetings
    4. Rules interpretation meetings
    5. Clinics in your sport area
  1. Establish squad rules concerning attendance, practice and behavior and enforce them. Make sure each athlete and parent/guardian gets a copy of squad rules prior to the beginning of practice.
  1. Proper attire shall be worn during practice and games.
  1. Supervise all squad members before, during and after practices and games.
  1. Handle the selection of special awards and attend presentation of these awards.
  1. Prepare and communicate practice and competition schedules to players and athletic director.
  1. Prepare budget and purchase proposal for uniforms and appropriate supplies.
  1. Submit complete squad roster to the athletic director.
  1. Cooperate with administration and coaches in planning pep rallies and other activities.
  1. Be responsible for distribution, collection, care and proper storage of equipment, uniforms, pom-pom, etc.
  1. Be responsible for the information in the Athletic Handbook and see that all assistants are also aware of this material.
  1. Carry required emergency forms for all squad members to all practices and games.
  1. Responsible for physical cards, emergency medical authorization forms and code of conduct for all squad members.
  1. Conduct yourself on the field at all times in such a manner that you will not insult players, officials or spectators. Be responsible for the conduct of your squad members. Teach by example. Encourage positive fan involvement.
  1. Inform all participants of the safety precautions associated with their sport or activity and teach proper skills to reduce chance of injury. Check all equipment routinely for safety concerns.
  1. Responsible for reporting and care of all injuries.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. 
  1. Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
  1. Conduct other coaching duties as assigned by the athletic director or principal as permitted by the negotiated agreement.

Additional Working Conditions:

  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
  2. Occasional interaction among unruly children.
