Overview Job Title: Mechanic Division: Equipment and Facilities Supervisor: Shop Supervisor ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Job Summary: Under limited supervision from the shop supervisor, the journeyman mechanic is responsible for performing work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment, keeping the scales calibrated and certified with the state of Utah, and overseeing special projects. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Duties and Responsibilities:
Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
Perform duties of a mechanic class 2.
Direct the work of several projects.
Welding and fabrication.
Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles and equipment; perform major engine and transmission repairs and replacements as well as electrical diagnosis.
Perform plant inspections, diagnose any problems, and perform plant maintenance, including electrical.
Complete major road calls and perform field repairs.
Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
Prepare and maintain records and reports.
Keep scales calibrated and certified with the state.
Maintain tools as required to do the job.
Maintain commercial driver's license (CDL) and department of transportation (DOT) medical card.
Operate forklift.
Review, understand, and adhere to all union contracts.
Maintain insurable driving record.
Ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all times. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Three years journeyman experience and/or two year diesel mechanic certificate preferred. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Weight lifted: Up to 50 pounds
Physical Movement: Will frequently kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist body, use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, stretch, bend, push pull, lift, or carry heavy objects, support body for long periods of time.
Speaking / Listening: Needs to be able to communicate effectively with supervision, follow instructions, and understand safety requirements. Needs to be able to hear sounds and recognize difference between them as well as focus on one source of sound and ignore others.
Working Conditions: Exposed to hazardous equipment, situations, and conditions. Sometimes will work outdoors at work site and indoors in the repair shop, exposed to all weather conditions. Will also be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and a variety of lighting conditions, from dim to light. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of conveyor systems
Knowledge of fuel and fueling systems
Vast Knowledge of complex electrical systems on vehicles/ equipment
