SUMMARY The Sr. Application Database Engineer will be responsible for all technical aspects in the maintenance, support, and configuration for on premises COTS packages and cloud-based SaaS (Software as a Service) systems for the OFEMS/LTMB. This varied technical role requires a highly competent technically driven individual that can learn new systems quickly while supporting the technical aspects of established systems. Additionally, the Sr. Application Database Engineer will coordinate with the FDA systems group for server upgrades, production version deployment upgrades, server log review and technical assistance for the annual ATO process. As a federal contractor, CNI is a drug-free workplace and adheres to the Federal Controlled Substance Act. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Ten (10 ) years using SQL for DML and DDL operations. Five (5 ) years using Microsoft SQL Server. Five (5 ) years in supporting server maintenance and production deployment activities. Four (4 ) years in supporting specific COTS/SaaS applications (i.e. Accruent EMS, Poppulo FWI, Tango Agilquest, or Pitney-Bowes SendSuite Live / SendPro 360) Four (4 ) writing and supporting technical requests such as RFC, VDD and TSD. Eight (8 ) years as an application developer. Two (2 ) years as a Power BI developer. Two (2 ) years as a Project Manager or Team Leader. Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. Must be able to infrequently commute within the Washington DC metro area, as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Works independently on technical activities while supporting team members. Provides advanced technical support and troubleshooting for systems within the branch portfolio. Monitors system logs to identify potential issues. Directs a small cross-functional project team. Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability. Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability. Fosters an environment in which they will report any violations or reasonably suspected violation of CNI policy, FAR, and/or CFR and are comfortable discussing the myriad compliance, conflict, FAR, CFR, etc. issues that arise during the performance of a government contract. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field of study and a minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience in a technical work environment. The following experience is required: CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATION Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. Must be able to infrequently commute within the Washington DC metro area, as needed. Prefer Cloud Computing certification: Such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud. Prefer Database certification: Such as SQL Server, Postgres, Oracle. Prefer Microsoft Windows certification: Such as Microsoft Certified Professional. JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Experience with AWS SaaS systems. Experience with Postgres, SQL Server and Oracle. Experience with Pitney-Bowes Mail Meters and peripherals installation, troubleshooting and support. Experience supporting the creation or modification of EPLC documentation. Must have excellent communication (verbal, presentation, and written) and organizational skills. Excellent skills developing solutions to meet client needs while staying in project budget guidelines. Excellent follow-up and time management skills. Strong customer service orientation and associated skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office. Prefer FDA experience working with ODT. Prefer Systems experience with the following systems: Crestron XiO Cloud; Actionfigure or CityMotion/Transitscreen; Poly Lens; Assetcloud; and Four Winds Interactive. Attention to detail – Critical skill. Must be able to regularly commute to White Oak Maryland, as needed. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
