Coastal Medical Staffing is Hiring a Certified Medical Coder Near Savannah, GA

Strong, private surgical practice is seeking a positive and self-directed medical coding specialist who can supports the practice in reviewing hospital and operative medical records to interpret and confirm all applicable medical codes to ensure services provided are accurately billed as documented.

  • Must be AAPC, CCS, OR CPC certified.
  • Must basic surgery coding experience.
  • Hybrid possibility based on experience.

Duties

  • Reviews and analyzes medical records and patient information to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10 coding systems
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines and regulations
  • Collaborates with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and obtain necessary information for coding purposes
  • Abstracts relevant information from medical records for coding and billing purposes
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Stays updated on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and technology advancements in the field
  • Provides technical guidance to physicians and other staff in identifying and resolving issues or errors such as incomplete or missing records and documentation, ambiguous or nonspecific documentation, and/or codes that do not conform to approved coding principles/guidelines.
  • Assists with medical billing and collections as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field, preferred
  • Two years experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting, preferredStrong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical coding software
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members
