Position: Systems Engineer/Architect, Senior - FAA, NASA

Function: Systems Engineer/Architect

Location: Remote Site/Cobec Site - DC

Remote Work Option: Yes

Salary Range: $115- $160k

Security Requirements

Must be a US citizen or a legal resident for three of the past five years. Public Trust cannot be granted without meeting the residency requirement.
Must meet eligibility requirements for a US Public Trust security clearance (moderate risk), including a soft credit check and criminal background check. Please refer to the criteria listed in
5 CFR 731.202 to understand the Public Trust suitability requirements.

Job Summary

This positionwill provide systems engineering and systems architecture support to Federal Government agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).In this role, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing aviation and aerospace systems architectures to meet the rigorous demands of industry. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure systems are reliable, efficient, and compliant with industry standards and regulations.The position requires 10 equivalent years of experience in systems engineering and systems architecture. Specific experience with the FAA, NASA, Department of Defense, or other federal agencies is desired.A Master's degree or PhD is desired and may count for additional years of experience.

Relevant Experience

The position requires ten equivalent years of experience in systems engineering and/or systems architecture., The ideal candidate will possess most or all of the following critical skill sets and experience to meet the requirements of the job function:

*10 years of recent and quantifiable experience in major systems architecture efforts.

*Proficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies.

*Demonstrated ability to design and implement aerospace and aviation systems.

*Broad expertise and knowledge of system engineering tools and methodologies

*Experience in developing and refining system requirements, architecture, and design

*A solid track record of data management including knowledge of data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, and information retrieval

*Experience in gathering and analyzing stakeholder requirements and translating them into technical specifications.

*Experience developing associated engineering artifacts that support system functional requirements, technical specifications, and performance standards.

*Experience creating strategy and roadmaps to leverage advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Specific experience with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or NASA is not required but is a plus. A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree or Ph.D. may count for additional years of experience.

Essential Job Functions

The systems engineering candidate will serve a variety of job functions and responsibilities centered around system architecture, design, development, and implementation of aerospace systems:

*System Design: Develop and refine system requirements, architecture, and design.

*Integration and Testing: Plan and execute the integration of system components and conduct thorough testing to ensure functionality and reliability.

*Requirements Analysis: Gather and analyze stakeholder requirements, translating them into technical specifications.

*Documentation: Create detailed documentation, including system design specifications, user manuals, and test plans.

*Project Management: Manage projects from conception through implementation, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget tracking.

*Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

*Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing support and maintenance for deployed systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.

*Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and network engineers, to ensure seamless system integration.

*Compliance: Ensure all systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Individuals will be required to contribute effectively to working groups through oral and written communication and cooperative working relationships. Detail oriented, self-driven individuals sought.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in quantitative field or STEM, such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related area. Graduate and Post Graduate degrees are a plus and may count as additional years of experience.

Skills Requirements

Ability to coordinate and communicate in a fast-paced team environment with other technical personnel, the program office, and vendors during system development and implementation. Minimum proficiency with MS Excel and other MS Office Products. Strong organizational, communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
