Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty, providing administrative support for a high-quality safety, training, and wellness program for the Public Works Department; performs related work as assigned.
Typical Duties

(Illustrative Only)
  • Supports Safety and Training Manager in implementing a comprehensive safety and training program
  • Assists the Safety and Training Manager in developing and implementing division-specific training plans, addressing safety and training concerns for employees
  • Collaborates with the Safety and Training Manager and Subject Matter Experts to create and deliver a division-specific training program
  • Maintains and tracks department wide-training schedules and certifications
  • Organizes training data that includes attendance reports, satisfaction surveys, curriculum, and policy audits; identifies needs and priority issues for analysis
  • Completes biannual training reports documenting evaluation data and progress on performance measures
  • Collaborates with the Safety and Training Manager by researching and developing policies related to safety; reviews, recommends, and tracks changes to existing safety and training policies and procedures
  • Oversees payments to vendors, manages contracts and organizes paperwork
  • Provides logistical planning for training events both in-person and virtually for the Public Works Department
  • Creates and distributes communication/marketing pieces for training opportunities to employees and encourages participation
  • Co-facilitates training workshops as needed, utilizing internal and external resources
  • Attends seminars and meetings to learn new training methods and techniques and use the knowledge to recommend training materials and methods to the Safety and Training Manager and department leadership
  • Assists the Public Works Safety and Wellness Committee in developing training, safety, and wellness events, including Public Works Day, Safety and Wellness Day
  • Provides research support in curriculum development and co-facilitation, or additional resources, as needed
  • Serves as a supplementary Safety Officer evaluating safety and compliance issues, against regulatory and contract requirements
  • Develops actionable plans to address the root causes of incidents
  • Serves on the Coconino County Public Works Safety Committee and Accident Review Board
  • Serves as an emergency communications team member and maybe on-call, as needed during emergencies
  • May supervise and train student employees, interns, and/or volunteers
  • Performs related work as assigned
Essential functions of this position include and not limited to: driving; working with and around others, co-workers, clients, agencies, etc.; working alone; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist) for computer input and driving; vision acuity (near/far); hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; touch/finger dexterity for computer work, visiting field sites and walking on uneven terrain.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in public/business administration, or a related field within subject area, and two years of administrative experience in the related field; OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report. Must complete a 30-hour OSHA training in general industry within three months of hire.

PREFERENCES: MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) new Miner training and certification.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive.
The ideal candidate will be able to perform administrative support on several safety and training software applications. Collaboration with the different divisions within Public Works is key to a successful program along with the ability to research and maintain currency in safety and training within our work environment.

- MS office proficiency average to above average skills - Word , Xcel ,PPT
