Coffeebar Menlo Park is Hiring a Baker Near Menlo, CA

We're looking for amazing individuals to provide exceptional hospitality and create delicious baked goods at our community café in Menlo Park, CA!

Pastry Chefs/Bakers:

Pastry chefs/bakers at Coffeebar drive product development and production in their area(s) of expertise, and they work cohesively with the commissary production team to fulfill daily café and special event orders. They are passionate about their craft and are excited to help others learn, but they are also eager to continue building their own skills within, including development of a “specialty”. They are dedicated to their own growth and development, taking every opportunity to add to their knowledge and professional skills. They are hard-working, adaptable, and highly motivated to be part of our growing company.

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Create and prepare specialty baked goods according to Coffeebar recipes and execution standards. Depending on area of specialization, this may include, but is not limited to: preparing and decorating pastries and other confections (desserts, cakes, pies, cookies, etc.), baking a variety of specialty breads for both café use and individual sale, , and/or proofing, frying, and glazing doughnuts.
  • Develop new and exciting offerings for Coffeebar’s fixed and seasonal menus in collaboration with the Executive Pastry Chef and other members of the baking team
  • Fulfill custom orders for special occasions and events as directed by the Executive Pastry Chef..
  • Assist with daily bake and savory commissary preparation and order fulfillment as needed.
  • Uphold rigorous cleanliness and food-safety standards according to Coffeebar policies and state/local laws.
  • Uphold baking equipment safety standards, protocols, and procedures.
  • Work with sprezzatura by keeping a positive attitude and performing tasks with urgency.
  • Assist with training new Bakery team members, particularly in area(s) of expertise
  • Embody our value of hospitality by providing genuine, welcoming, and knowledgeable service for guests.
  • Maintain a team-first mindset and adapt to business needs by performing supporting tasks such as washing dishes, maintaining lobby cleanliness and sanitation, cleaning bathrooms, and restocking, regardless of assigned position.
  • Early morning baking shifts (3:00am) required - Start time will shift to 1am in August. Baker will drive the bake to our Redwood City Cafe. In August they will also drive to our new cafe.

  • Valid driver's license & clean driving record is required.

Other Requirements

  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, including during winter driving conditions. Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays.
  • Meet store operating policies and standards, including proper cash handling and store safety and security.
  • Physical tasks, completed with or without accommodations, include: constant walking/standing, frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, fine manipulation, power grasping and/or push/pull up to 20 lbs, bending at waist/squatting, reaching forward/above shoulders, hand washing, , twisting (at neck or waist), climbing, and/or kneeling. Additionally, the work environment may contain nuisance dust (coffee grinds, flour), intermittent noise, use of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, and allergens (including, but not limited to nuts, wheat, and dairy).
