Job Title: Senior Project Architect

Job Summary:

A Senior Project Architect is responsible for project performance regarding profit, quality, and client satisfaction. The role primarily involves managing the internal team and external consultants while working with the Principals to interface with the client. A Senior Project Architect may be called upon to manage one or more projects of various complexity and scope. They are expected to have a rich and diverse set of experience and knowledge. This leadership role requires oversight, guidance, and mentoring of others.

This position can be located in any of out three offices, Boise Idaho, Gilbert Arizona, or Bend Oregon.

Responsibilities:

General:

  • sketches, drawings, codes, building programs, and other materials.
  • documentation preparation in various architectural phases, including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, details, models, and renderings.
  • the selection of building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, landscape, etc.) and associated documentation.
  • field observation, acting as an agent for the client and reporting the construction progress to the client.
  • project coordination and site meetings with internal team members and external consultants, owner, contractor, and subcontractors.
  • building design meets client budget, schedule, program, and primary design intent
  • preparation of specifications in coordination with building plans.
  • the quality and progress of consultants' work.
  • quality assurance and quality control have been conducted.
  • to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
  • to apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity.
  • knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry-associated standards.
  • shop drawings and submittal, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports.
  • understanding of all phases of architectural document production.
  • understanding of all phases of architectural document production.
  • interpersonal skills with client and project team members.
  • creativity, critical thinking, and internal and external design excellence.
  • the quality of work and activities to ensure high standards throughout the firm.
  • in performance reviews, including setting job goals.
  • staff in dialogue on various design tasks, ensures adherence to the design/work process, and promotes the use of technology tools.

  • to oversee the development of building documentation in modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD).

Marketing & Community Engagement:

  • additional work and services with existing clients
  • in developing and negotiating contracts with owners, contractors, and consultants.
  • development activities, including marketing proposals, interviews, conference attendance, etc
  • the selection of building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, landscape, etc.) and associated documentation.
  • with the Marketing team to track client and competition information.
  • collaboratively with Project Architects/Project Managers to secure new clients and projects, including preparing proposals, interviews, and presentations.

Internal Leadership:

  • the Sr Principals and Principals in office management.
  • and supervises Project Architects, Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Designers, providing timely feedback and holding them accountable.
  • as a mentor, teacher, and coach to staff, guiding them through their careers.
  • with office and operational leadership to achieve effective staffing, supporting client and project needs while balancing the firm's resources.
  • project teams and the removal of non-performers from projects, as necessary.
  • rewards for the project team when appropriate.
  • coaching sessions and reviews for existing staff.
  • for learning, stewardship, and craft.
  • to lead one or more teams through all phases of architectural document production .

Office Success:

  • and track change orders, pay apps, and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
  • value engineering and basic cost estimating.
  • bidding and negotiation phase.
  • and approve client billings and effectively manage collections.
  • understanding of all phases of architectural document production.
  • project budget, schedule, and overall work planning to return to the target profit level.
  • understanding of project financials.

Qualifications

  • Accredited degree in Architecture/Engineering support of professional license is required
  • NCARB or NCEES certification is preferred.
  • Green Associate Accreditation or LEED AP preferred.
  • 8 years of experience preferred
