Job Title: Teacher/PE/Girls Athletics Coordinator MS
Reports to: Principal and Director of Athletics
Dept/Campus: Assigned Campus
Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Scale
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary PurposeDirect and manage the various sports on the campus, providing each student with the opportunity to participate in the athletic programs offered at the middle school. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, University Interscholastic League and local requirements related to athletics. Ensure that each assistant coach at the school has a thorough understanding of UIL policies and guidelines. The coordinators for the middle school are responsible for the coordination of the athletic programs.
Special Knowledge/Experience
  • Knowledge of techniques to assist coaches with the development of all athletes on the campuses
  • Working knowledge thorough understanding of district philosophies related to expectations and accountability
  • Ability to work with each assistant coach to plan and put in place goals that reflect a vision for success in all programs
Education/CertificationBS in Education with a Texas Teaching Certificate
Major Responsibilities And Duties
  • Operate athletic programs in accordance with CSISD and UIL policy
  • Effectively lead a successful program that develops character in student athletes, maximizes talents, maximize time with organization of practices
  • Promotes a positive image for the CSISD community
  • Creates a positive, caring climate for staff and students within the athletic program
  • Works collaboratively with campus level and district level administration for continuous growth in a shared vision
Administration
  • Manage allotted budget and selection of equipment and material needed for student success
  • Oversee the coaching staff and athletic trainer to ensure all practices, physicals, reports and records are documented
  • Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the athletic programs
Program Management
  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students athletic ability on a regular basis
  • Recommend hiring of assistant coaches at middles school campus
  • Assist with all schedules at the middle school
  • Requisition supplies, uniforms and equipment for your sport in cooperation with assistant athletic director
  • Ensure that head coaches of each sport at the high school meet with coaches at the middle school to discuss program goals, schemes and strategies for improvement
  • Encourage by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation…creating an atmosphere that places equal emphasis on every sport
  • Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
  • Work with other personnel to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements
  • Assist with the evaluation, development and coordination for coaches’ growth that will bring value to the programs coached
Personnel Management
  • Summarize written evaluations each year for all dual contracts of assigned assistant coaches
  • Make related professional development recommendations for coaches to the athletic director
  • Responsible of the hiring of coaches with help from assistant athletic director
  • Recommend hiring of middles school coaches
Student Management
  • Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports and out of town trips
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with student code of conduct and student handbook
  • Ensure with student athletes that you encourage by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation…creating an atmosphere that places equal emphasis on every sport
Communication
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, assistant athletic director and director of student activities
  • Use technology effectively in communications, instruction and administrative tasks
Other
  • Attend designated campus athletic events
  • Keep informed of and ensures compliance with all UIL rules
  • Attend meeting with athletic director
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise assistant coaches, athletic trainers, and student athletic assistants

Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances and integrating into different school environments. Occasionally work prolonged and irregular hours.
