The Director, Accounting and Controls, leads the accounting function for the ~$6B Mission Systems strategic business unit within Collins Aerospace. This role is a key member of the Mission Systems leadership team and plays a critical role in setting strategic direction for the business function, in addition to overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations.
This role will be performed REMOTE from any Collins Aerospace location either domestic or remote.What YOU Will Do:Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the SBU CFOs and functional groups (IPP&C, FP&A) within the business to makes decisions on financial matters related to accounting. These decisions have direct impacts on the business, customers and contracts, and require influencing the finance functions.
  • Leads the general ledger and financial close processes across multiple systems for Mission Systems, supporting the broader Collins Aerospace consolidation process. Activities include:
    • Supporting the 10K/Q process
    • Performing Balance sheet reviews and analytics
    • Leading the lose processes and HFM submissions
    • Supporting the transition from HFM to Onestream
    • Consultation with Finance and other functions on inter-organizational activity and initiatives
    • Reviewing and approving larger accounting entries and providing leadership to the team
  • Leads the controls organization, responsible for maintaining an effective and efficient control environment for Mission Systems, including compliance with Sarbanes Oxley. Activities include:
    • Leading SOX compliance efforts, including quarterly certification and annual testing requirements
    • Performing Accounting & Controls Assessments (ACAs) across Mission Systems sites
    • Working with management to remediate any identified control issues
    • Support internal audit engagements
    • Performing ad-hoc projects as requested, frequently working cross-functionally to solve problems
  • Responsible for maintaining compliant accounting systems and processes, frequently engaging with the Collins Controller’s office and Government Accounting on technical accounting matters that arise (complex transactions, revenue recognition, government accounting compliance, balance sheet activity, etc.).
  • Works to support the continued integration of accounting and finance activities related to Project Maple to ensure work is handled in the most effective manner by the group best able to support the activity.
  • Occasional travel primarily domestic
Expectations of the role:
  • Technical accounting expertise and knowledge of government accounting.
  • Controls and compliance background.
  • Financial closing process and experience leading an accounting close.
  • Understanding of control framework.
  • Experience leading larger projects and process improvements.
  • Strong experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606) and providing guidance to the business.
  • Strong experience with maintaining effective internal control environments.
  • Able to lead a geographically dispersed team.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 18 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

The salary range for this role is 171,000 USD - 343,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
