Position Role Type:Onsite
Collins Aerospace is seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer to join our team in Cedar Rapids, IA. This role is ideal for a dedicated Quality Engineering professional who excels as an individual contributor, driving impactful site quality health objectives. The position involves managing Quality processes and projects, leveraging expertise to shape the development, modification, application, and maintenance of quality evaluation and control systems and protocols. This is an onsite position, requiring the professional to be present at the facility.
What You Will Do:
  • Facilitates processes to adapt, implement, and sustain quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols.
  • Clarifies testing and inspection plans, methods, and technologies to ensure product and process reliability and compliance.
  • Analyzes and recommends corrective actions for nonconformities and design issues in internally produced products and processes.
  • Utilizes PPAP core elements (e.g., PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow, and Control Plans) to identify and propose strategies for managing risk in product development.
  • Conducts reviews to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management, including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.
  • Reviews process control documentation to ensure adherence to requirements, objectives, and contracts.
  • Collaborates on product design and specifications to devise testing plans, methods, and equipment that assure product reliability.
  • Works collaboratively to maintain and enforce quality standards.
  • Develops and implements proactive quality initiative strategies.
  • Performs escape management procedures, conducts root cause analysis, and recommends corrective actions for design problems in internally produced products and processes.
  • Oversees both Program and Product Quality Engineering.
  • Innovates and develops new inspection technologies or methodologies to ensure product conformance.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
  • Comprehensive written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint..etc.)
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Aerospace/Defense experience
  • Experience with AS 9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Experience using inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, pin gages, thread gages, etc.)
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
