What you will do:
  • Design ownership of product life-cycle through production and product support.
  • Design mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability and maintainability.
  • Perform engineering calculations to determine the size and strength of components.
  • Solve design problems and check computations contributing to analytical designs.
  • Prepare, modify and release drawings created in CAD (Siemens NX) to verify fit, form and function of mechanical designs.
  • Verify structural acceptability of designs by testing prototypes for reliability and FAA certification through dynamic crash testing.
  • Utilize engineering tools such as DFMEA to validate design content.
  • Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
  • Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.
Qualifications you must have:Requires a degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
Qualifications we prefer:
  • Prior experience in the design of mechanical/pneumatic components
  • Experience in design using Siemens NX
  • Experience working with Teamcenter or other Product Data Manager (PDM) Tools
  • Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Familiarity with FAA requirements

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
  • Regardless of your role type, collaboration and innovation are critical to our business and all employees will have access to digital tools so they can work with colleagues around the world – and access to Collins sites when their work requires in-person meetings.
The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
