Colonial Williamsburg is Hiring a Human resource generalist Near Williamsburg, VA

  • Act as the main point of contact for employees on HR-related topics.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance in accordance with federal, state, and local employment laws, rules, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Partners with Director, Employee Experience and Director to establish and maintain the desired culture, core values, and philosophies of the organization.
  • Perform the employee relations function including investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans when requested by leadership.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute HR processes and programs such as the facilitation of training and workgroup sessions;

preparation and maintenance of ADA cases; coaching supervisors and managers on developing and communicating the standards of workplace excellence.

  • Perform periodic audits of human resources files and records to ensure that all required documents are filed appropriately.
  • Assist with special projects and functions of the department.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of job descriptions when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Required and Preferred Education and Experience :

Required :

  • Plus 2-3 years of experience in human resources or related position that includes experience in employee relations, talent aquisition, performance management, diversity and equal opportunity.

Preferred :

  • Experience working within a Union environment strongly preferred;
  • Experience working with a J-1 visa program and related onboarding strongly preferred;
  • Experience working within not-for-profit industry.
  • Professional (PHR), Senior Professional (SPHR) in Human Resources; SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP;
