Position: Behavioral Health Work Force Development and EHR Lead 

Location: Denver 

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Reports to: Behavioral Health Director 

Starting Salary: Behavioral Health Lead II (3 years of experience): 66,209- 82,762 

Position Summary 

The Behavioral Health Internship and Technology Lead is responsible for implementation and continuous improvement of the efficient use of the EHR system in the behavioral health department. This role is additionally responsible for recruiting, training, and providing ongoing individual and some group supervision to interns statewide in the behavioral health department in collaboration with undergraduate and graduate mental health and social work programs across the state. This position will assess and respond to requests for individual mental health or substance use/addictions counseling for people living with HIV/AIDS and other underserved individuals. Finally, this position will assist in creating curriculum for group-counseling services including oversight of volunteer facilitators, scheduling, group admissions, advertising, and evaluation. This position may require travel between regional offices to provide supportive behavioral health services.

Essential Job Functions: 

Outpatient Therapy 75% 

  • Provides individual (short-term) mental health and substance use/addictions counseling or other appropriate interventions in-person and via teletherapy (phone or video).

  • Assists in the facilitation of group counseling services in-person and via teletherapy.

  • In conjunction with other Behavioral Health clinicians and other agency staff, provides crisis coverage by referral or direct intervention, as appropriate.

  • Supports the upkeep, tracking, and monitoring of client and patient activities in the agency database.

  • Maintains timely and appropriate clinical documentation and reports, consistent with organizational standards.

  • In conjunction with other Behavioral Health staff, maintains a network and referral system of prevention, mental health, and addiction treatment options available for clients.

  • In conjunction with other Behavioral Health staff, provides training to agency staff and volunteers on crisis interventions, psychosocial, and/or substance use/addiction issues.

  • Models, abides by, and helps enforce HIPAA regulations amongst staff and departments of the agency.

  • Acts as a liaison between clients, patients, and all relevant professionals, programs, and resources.

  • Participates and attends staff, department, team, and community meetings upon request.

  • Performs effectively within the organization and interpersonally with co-workers.

  • Participates in fund-raising and advocacy events on behalf of the agency. 

Electronic Health Record Leadership 15% 

  • Statewide oversight and training

  • Develops and maintains expertise in using the EHR system. 

  • Leads the implementation of the EHR system within the Behavioral Health team in collaboration with other departments and external resources, ensuring the specific needs of the Behavioral Health team are met.

  • Develops comprehensive training programs for Behavioral Health staff and interns regarding EHR functionalities, updates, and best practices, and documentation standards.

  • Provides ongoing support and resources for Behavioral Health staff to enhance their EHR proficiency.

  • Supports the Behavioral Health Manager in quality assurance and improvement by ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security through regular internal audits. 

  • Serves as a liaison between the Clinical Billing Specialist and the Behavioral Health team.

Intern Management 10% 

  • Leads statewide recruitment for interns, including creating job descriptions, managing applications, and conducting interviews with intern candidates.

  • Plans and conducts, in coordination with the Behavioral Health Director and other Behavioral Health staff, initial and ongoing training for behavioral health interns in the areas of assessment, organizational policy, clinical interventions and crisis intervention, safety, and other topics as relevant.

  • In collaboration with IT, Facilities Management, Clinical leadership, and other teams, supports the process of interns getting access to all necessary systems and technology.

  • Trains and supports interns in using and billing for client encounters through the EHR.

  • Creates and maintains collaborative relationships with area undergraduate and graduate mental health and social work programs.

  • Regularly solicits feedback from current interns and conducts end-of-internship interviews with departing interns to ensure continuous improvement of the intern program.

  • Provides individual and group supervision to behavioral health interns in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Director and, as needed, other Behavioral Health staff.

  • Participates in the educational and professional development of interns in collaboration with their educational program and relevant assignments.

  • Ensures compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations pertaining to internships.

  • Assists in grant writing, management, and reporting to ensure the sustainability of the internship program. 

  •  Support Crisis Support Team (CST) consultation and response across all teams

Qualifications


Qualifications: 

Minimum two years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Must have experience or knowledge regarding HIV and/or other chronic health conditions. Experience working with diverse populations including LGBTQIA2 populations. Experience providing substance use/addiction counseling. The ability to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Education: 

Masters Degree in Social Work required. Active Colorado LCSW license required, active LAC or willingness to work towards licensure fulfillment for LAC preferred.

Software Utilized:

Experience working with basic office and database computer programs, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint and the internet. 

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

Must have an applicable understanding and experience with the harm reduction model, stages of change model, and motivational interviewing. Excellent client relations and management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven organizational skills with high attention to detail. Ability to work well within team environment and overall organizational structure. 

Material and Equipment Directly Used:

Works with standard office equipment including computer workstation, printers, copiers, scanners and fax machine. Works with word processing software, spreadsheet applications, and presentation software. Communicates with clients and vendors using the telephone, e-mail, the Internet, and fax. 

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

Works in an office environment. Requires clear speaking ability and the ability to use a telephone for extended periods. Requires ability to view a computer screen (near acuity). Requires fingering agility for keyboarding and using a telephone and other office equipment.
