The Office of Colorado’s Child Protection Ombudsman (CPO) is a vital resource dedicated to improving the child protection system across the state. Our mission is to serve as a voice for citizens, provide oversight and recommendations to the Governor’s Office, Colorado State Legislature, and other stakeholders to enhance the child protection system. As an independent entity within the Colorado Judicial Branch, our team of 14 full-time employees brings diverse backgrounds and expertise to create meaningful change.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES

In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our office. Your responsibilities will range from managing calendars and scheduling meetings to assisting with financial processes and coordinating events. You will also provide essential support to the Director of Administrative Services. This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys a dynamic work environment and is ready to take on new challenges.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position plays a key part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the office, encompassing a range of administrative, clerical and logistical tasks. Below are the key functions and responsibilities associated with this position:

Organizational Support:

You'll be responsible for managing calendars, preparing reports and coordinating office needs while providing technical support and administrative support.

Financial Support:

In this role, you’ll monitor and record expenses, process payments, reconcile transactions and manage office inventory, ensuring accuracy and adherence to fiscal guidelines.

Event Coordination and General Support:

You'll assist in planning and executing events. Take meeting minutes and provide clerical support to the Deputy Ombudsman and Ombudsman.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS AT THE CPO:

The successful applicant in this position must be willing and able to meet the following requirements:

  • Must be willing to submit to and successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • All CPO employees may be required to work in-person at the CPO physical office space on a full-time or hybrid basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

THE EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • You have at least two years of experience in an administrative support role, ideally within a government or nonprofit setting.
  • You are tech-savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe, Dropbox, and a knack for learning new software quickly.
  • You hold a valid driver’s license and are ready to occasionally travel within Colorado.
