Job Type: Full Time - Remote / Hybrid

Position Summary:

The Medical Billing Coder requires working directly with our EHR reviewing all codes assigned for accuracy, recommending code changes, modifier additions and diagnosis changes based on third party payer reimbursement policies, medical necessity criteria, and National Correct Coding Initiate (NCCI) guidelines. The Medical Billing Coder will ensure proper processing of all coding reviewed in accordance with CMS compliance, Federal and State regulations, and Colorado Retina Associates policies.

Job Duties:

• Review provider documentation within EHR and assign diagnosis & procedure codes
• Correct coding for denied claims
• Collaborate with other Revenue Cycle and CRA teams as needed to resolve any coding discrepancies
• Educate and act as a resource for providers and clinical staff

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Working knowledge of medical terminology required
• 1 years' medical/surgical coding & billing experience using ICD-10 and CPT codes required, 2 years' preferred
• Working knowledge of Managed Care, Government Payers, and Private Payers preferred
• Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) software systems preferred
• Experience working with NextGen strongly preferred
