Position : Facilities and Safety Manager
Reports to: CEO
Location: Denver
Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000 - $75,000 per year, generous benefits including 401k matching, 100% employer-paid premiums for health, dental, vision; paid vacation, holiday pay, and paid parental leave

About Colorado Village Collaborative (CVC):
Colorado Village Collaborative (CVC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing innovative alternative shelter solutions and supportive services to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness in the Denver area. CVC operates six sites offering safe, individualized, and dignified shelter options to approximately 200 program participants across all sites. We provide low-barrier shelter and services, with a focus on the gaps that prevent people from accessing services at traditional shelters. Consequently, we are a secular organization that welcomes people with partners and pets, provides 24/7 access, and are committed to evidence-based harm reduction. We approach our work from person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed models of service and care and treat all of our community members with respect and dignity. Staff CVC work in a diverse, collaborative environment that centers lived experience, respect and welcoming for each community member.
Position Overview:
Colorado Village Collaborative (CVC) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Facilities and Safety Manager to oversee the operations, maintenance, and safety of our six sites (tiny homes, safe outdoor spaces and micro-community) along with our office building. The Facilities and Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety, cleanliness, functioning, maintenance and operations of the built environment, as well as managing a team of maintenance staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilities Support
    • Support day-to-day maintenance and upkeep at our six program sites: 2 Tiny Home Villages, 3 Safe Outdoor Camping spaces, and 1 Micro-Community. We anticipate a second Micro-Community will open in Q3 of 2024.
    • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and upkeep at CVC's offices.
    • Ensure sites and offices are in condition to support the health and wellbeing of staff and program participants.
    • Respond to maintenance requests from lessee/tenant(s).
    • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
    • Coordinate and prioritized repairs and improvements as needed to maintain the safety and functionality of the sites.
    • Manage relationships with contractors and vendors for maintenance and repair services.
    • Develop and implement systems for tracking maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant and required health and safety regulations, including fire codes, building codes, and sanitation standards.
    • Coordinate and calendar regular and unscheduled inspections and visits with the City.
    • In collaboration with relevant CVC staff, develop and implement safety plans, protocols and procedures for staff, program participants, vendors, and visitors.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and drills to mitigate risks and hazards.
    • Collaborate with local authorities and emergency services to address safety concerns and emergencies.
    • Develop and implement proactive measures to respond to extreme weather events.
  • Team Building and Support
    • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of three (2.5 FTE) maintenance staff.
    • Provide ongoing support, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members.
    • Delegate and prioritize tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure efficient operations and maintenance of the sites.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Coordinate and work alongside volunteers and City staff as needed.
  • Strategic Growth
    • Support the Leadership Team in planning for site moves or new site openings.
    • Identifies areas with respect to new systems and processes that can improve efficiency and effectiveness in the built environment.
    • Contribute to the development of new projects.
  • Budget Management
    • Contribute to development of annual budget for facilities maintenance and operations.
    • Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Maintain excellent records and documentation.
  • Travel and Physical Demands
    • Valid driver's license along with reliable and regular transportation to use for picking up supplies and traveling between sites when needed.
    • Mixed environment of work in production and office environment: occasional periods of sitting, telephone and computer work.
    • Extended walking or standing on concrete floor as well as uneven and unpaved surfaces.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
    • Ability to bend or twist, kneel, stoop, crouch and crawl.
    • Knowledge and adherence to safety protocols for handling chemicals, operating machinery, and ensuring safe environments for staff and visitors.
    • Proficiency in using hand and power tools for repairs and maintenance tasks.
    • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, and willingness to perform outdoor tasks regardless of weather.

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field, preferably in a nonprofit or social services setting. Previous work with the unhoused population is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership and team building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google platform, and facility management software preferred.
