Columbia International University is Hiring a Head Cheer Coach Near Columbia, SC

DescriptionColumbia International University is seeking a vibrant leader to oversee a new competitive intercollegiate female cheer squad. The head cheer coach is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and managing all aspects of the intercollegiate program. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes and managing the program's fiscal, academic, and spiritual aspects. The program will compete regionally and nationally, attending the Christian Cheerleaders of America (CCA) and Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College National Championships in Orlando, Florida. The team will also perform at the halftime of collegiate basketball games, sideline cheer, and serve in the community. CIU requires all staff to have a godly walk with Christ and the ability to communicate their relationship with Him.
Responsibilities
  • Direct all student-athletes and assistant coaches in the overall planning and execution of the intercollegiate competitive cheer program.
  • Mentor young women and be able to communicate godly principles.
  • Embrace all aspects of developing, managing, and running a cheer program, working independently and cooperatively with all CIU athletics and institutional staff.
  • Recruit quality prospective student-athletes that fit the mission and culture of CIU and ensure timely submission of their academic records for admissions.
  • Monitor academic progress and status of team members, implementing action plans through appropriate staff when needed.
  • Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program and the university.
  • Plan all coaching and practice sessions in accordance with association regulations, including all preparation of facilities and equipment for practice.
  • Develop team members individually and in groups while demonstrating college-level cheer techniques. Develops and implements safety structures for practices and competitions.
  • Manage all operational, fiscal, and administrative activities for the cheer program.
  • Promote and market the athletic department and cheer program in the community.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts for the athletic department and cheer program.
  • Ensure adherence to all association, conference, and university rules by student-athletes and supporting staff.
  • Manages all aspects of team travel.
Qualifications
  • Successful head college cheer coaching experience.
  • Understanding and knowledge of NAIA and UCA compliance and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated Christian ministry experiences, directly or indirectly involving cheer.
  • USA Cheer Safety Certification
  • UCA experience
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree required.
