QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A high level of motivation and dedication -- ability to change job tasks on very short notice.

2. Knowledge of machinery, - lawn mowers, edges, weed eaters, and small utility is desirable.

3. Excellent people skills -- skills necessary to work with others in all types of environments.

4. Certification or License: Nebraska Driver’s License and pass background check.

REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings and Grounds / Designee

Hours: Full-time year-round position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Supervisory Responsibility: None

2. Keeps Director of Buildings and Grounds / Designee informed about ongoing activities/emerging issues.

3. Works weekly schedule to meet the needs of the district.

4. Maintains open/effective communication. Uses problem-solving techniques to address and resolve questions/concerns.

5. Anticipates and replenishes consumable supplies to avoid work schedule interruptions.

6. Helps with the receipt of deliveries, verify packages and quantities.

7. Performs a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (ie, carpentry, painting, custodial, mechanical, etc.) for the purpose of helping others during times of need.

8. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

9. Assists in training programs to the operations of district equipment/supplies.

10. Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and hours of the day.

11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds / Designee.

B. Climatic Environment: Varies with weather conditions if outside. Inside air-conditioned and non-airconditioned areas.

C. Hazards: If monitoring work sites – hot surfaces, dust, steam, fuels and solvents. Electrical current, water pressure.

D.O.T. CLASS:

Sedentary Heavy X

REQUIREMENTS:

A. Education Level: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

B. Experience Desired: Custodial and general maintenance skills

REPORTS TO: Head Custodian, Buildings & Grounds Supervisor, Building Principal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Follows a written cleaning program as directed by the head custodian and buildings and grounds supervisor.

B. Assists in snow removal.

C. Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.

D. Reports repairs needed to night supervisor or head custodian.

E. Reports immediately to the night supervisor or head custodian any damage to school property.

F. Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the buildings has been authorized and his/her attendance is required.

G. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.

H. Keeps an inventory of supplies and equipment on hand and requisitions such needed replacement from the warehouse far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodian in his duties.

I. Is responsive to the needs of the building administrators for night activities in the facility.

J. Moves furniture or equipment within building as required for various activities and as directed.

K. Is capable of taking over all operational duties should this become necessary for any reason.

L. Adheres to district rules.

M. Perform other tasks that may be assigned by building principal or director of building and grounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.43 - $17.54 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
