Are you someone passionate about serving in your community? We are seeking a Director of Speech Services to join our Columbus Speech and Hearing team!
SummaryThe function of this position is to provide leadership which will encourage the completeness, accuracy, and general excellence of Speech services offered by Columbus Speech and Hearing. The Direct of Speech Services will be responsible for driving and tracking the team’s productivity. The Director of Speech will act as part of the Executive Leadership Team. Lead efforts as an ambassador of our CHS values: Compassion, Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence and Respect.
Essential Functions/Primary Job ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Directs program and CSH speech operations to meet program quality and financial indicators.
  • Promotes excellence through exceptional employee experience, training, a positive work environment, and quality outcomes.
  • Effectively overseeing and delegating tasks helping to maximize time, resources and productivity.
  • Ensures CSH values are consistently incorporated. This includes a team-based care approach, creating goals and functionally relevant activities to address client needs, the primary SLP role, the revenue producing model, community education, and the client/family education model.
  • Responsible for the management and supervision of the Speech department, develop in-service training and staff development programs.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations as outlined in the CSH Handbook.
  • Oversee the monitoring and approval of staff schedules.
  • Monitor and analyze productivity, monthly revenue, program outcomes and other service information.
  • Will perform the duties of Director of Speech on a full-time basis, recognizing as time allows, direct service can be performed, such as filling in for absent therapists, screenings, diagnostics, etc.
  • Partner with Human Resources on all recruitment and retention needs within the Speech department.
  • Assist the President & CEO in planning program development of Speech services.
  • Partner with the Development team to establish and implement an annual marketing plan.
  • Develop quarterly and yearly written departmental goals.
  • Oversee the annual updating of community contracts.
  • Shall assist the President & CEO in establishing an annual department budget.
  • Fiscally responsible for managing the department’s budget.
  • Approve Paid Time Off (PTO) for Speech leadership team.
  • Attend general staff meetings, management meetings, and other meetings as deemed necessary; conduct and document Speech department staff meetings.
  • Maintain positive inter-agency relationships with public and private agencies needed to provide and/or enhance the Speech department services.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations regarding support services, records management, and service scheduling, finding ways to improve efficiency and increase output/expand services within existing staff.
  • Partner with the Director of Operations to support the collection and use of data regarding clients for outcome reporting to accrediting agencies, United Way, managed care organizations, payers, funders, etc.
  • Responsible for HIPAA compliance.
  • Report KPI data monthly to the President & CEO.
  • Provide KPI data bi-monthly to the President & CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Attend Executive Leadership Team meetings.
  • Attend bi-monthly Board of Directors meetings.
  • Provide staff support to Board committees as requested by the President & CEO.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.
  • Minimum 5-10 demonstrably successful years’ professional experience in delivery of speech and language services.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of management experience in a clinical setting.
  • Must be an individual who has shown outstanding capabilities as a leader and organizer, an ability to work well with people at all levels, high level of proficiency in oral and written communications.
Licensure/Certification
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Licensure in Audiology or Speech Language Pathology issued by Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements: must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, must be able to sit on the floor to interact with young children for extended periods of time, and must be able to move efficiently and quickly from one position to another.
Supervisory Responsibility
This role will lead and manage the speech department. Directly supervising the leadership speech team.
Work Environment
This position is held in a clinical setting, in the community (schools/preschools/community).
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position; Clinic hours and days are Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. This role will require available beyond the regular hours of the Center as may be required for special projects and community involvement.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day; some travel to local to various contract sites and satellite offices. The time and mileage are paid.
