About Us

Columbus State Community College, located in the heart of Columbus, OH, is a leading institution in hospitality education. With the establishment of Mitchell Hall in 2019, we have created a state-of-the-art hub dedicated to culinary arts, featuring cutting-edge facilities such as a dedicated cold room, a mixology lab, and four teaching labs, each equipped with eight workstations and a variety of culinary equipment. Mitchell Hall is also home to Blend, our student-run café and bakery, and Degrees, our on-campus restaurant.

About The Mix

The Mix is our vibrant program offering recreational cooking classes (non-credit) designed to engage and inspire the community. We are seeking fun, energetic, and professional-minded chefs to join us as instructors for these classes. If you have a passion for cooking and love sharing your knowledge with others, this is your chance to make a difference!

Instructor Responsibilities

As an instructor with The Mix, you will:

• Create and Deliver Courses: Design a menu, provide recipes, compile an equipment and ingredients list, and develop a detailed instructional plan for a 2-hour class.
• Teach and Inspire: Share your culinary expertise, industry standards, and techniques engagingly and enjoyably.
• Foster Culinary Passion: Encourage participants, light their culinary passion, and ensure a fun, memorable experience for all.

• Have a passion for cooking and enjoy working with people
• Are creative, self-motivated, and team players
• Are fun, energetic, and able to create a positive, lively classroom environment
• Are clean and organized in the kitchen

Job Details

• Job Type: Contract
• Schedule:
• 4-hour shifts
• Choose your own hours
• Day shifts, evening shifts, and Monday to Friday options available
• Weekends as needed

Requirements

• Experience:
• Cooking: 1 year (Preferred)
• Culinary: 2 years (Preferred)
