Job Description

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a full-time Instructional Librarian. This individual will be responsible for providing general and specialized instructional library classes and reference services to faculty, staff, and students on and off campus. This position is full-time/exempt. This position may require some evening work.
Responsibilities:

  • Provides faculty, staff, and students with instructions on library services and best research practices
  • Alternate opening and closing of the library with the Dean and other librarians
  • Knowledge of GALILEO online databases and resources
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Organizes annual inventory of library resources
  • Computer and job-related software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, GALILEO, ALMA, PRIMO, Banner, LibGuides, and Blackboard)
  • Organize and process Dual Enrollment textbooks for distribution
  • Assists with proctoring students
  • Assists in planning library events and meetings
  • Update student printing balances using Papercut software as needed
  • Assists the Dean in planning and/or implementing changes in services, and providing staff development
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Managing the technology needs of the library
  • Processing Interlibrary Loan requests for faculty, staff, and students
  • Organizes and maintains calendar for library instructional classes
  • Assists the Dean with collection development
  • Places Banner Holds for overdue or lost library items
  • Maintains and updates Library Webpages
  • Attends professional and community meetings, workshops, and conferences, as needed
  • Supervises all library operations on occasion, as assigned
  • Performs other duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in library and information science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a library setting.
  • Two years of work experience in a library
  • Experience with ALMA ILS (Integrated Library System) or other similar library systems

Salary/Benefits:
Salary is $49,000 annually. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, and sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
