Technical Writer

Long-term temporary (potentially through end of 2024!)

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to complete a special project for our team. This would be a temporary/project role lasting approximately 3-4 months. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in technical writing, ideally with experience in electrical subsystems and computer use writing. You will be responsible for producing high-quality documentation ensuring the successful use of and ease of use of our products.

Technical Writer:

• Develop, write, and edit technical documentation related to our products, including user manuals, installation guides, technical specifications, maintenance manuals, and safety guidelines.
• Ensure all documentation meets industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team.
• Editing content to ensure voice, grammar and style is on point.
• Create and integrate visual elements such as electrical diagrams, schematics, charts, and photographs to enhance the clarity of the documentation.
• Work closely with internal team members to ensure documentation reflects current practices and technologies.
• Manage and complete work on time for multiple content writing projects.

Technical Writer Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Certification in Technical Communication (CPTC) a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years’ proven experience as a Technical Writer or similar role, ideally related to electrical subsystems/computer use.
• Experience in the railroad industry a plus.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate documentation.
• Understanding of technical concepts and ability research and check technical material for consistency and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills to be able to review complex technical information and simplify it.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
