We are looking for a creative and collaborative Triangle Campus Organizer to join the Common Cause North Carolina team. This is a key role designed to enhance and continue Common Cause North Carolina’s successful organizing and outreach programs promoting life-long civic engagement at the intersections of North Carolina’s fast-growing Triangle campuses and communities.
You will be engaging students at several Historically Black Universities and Colleges (HBCUs) in the ever-evolving landscape of voting and elections and assist with moving students along the ladder of participation in our democracy. You will serve as a first point of contact for various HBCU campuses.
This role reports to the HBCU and Campus Manager of Common Cause North Carolina and is based in The Triangle in North Carolina (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill), with the expectation to travel to various in-state locations multiple times per week. We hope our new Triangle Campus Organizer can join us in July.
Responsibilities
· Lead our campus organizing activities to advance our campaigns
· Organize students across campuses where we work, focusing on HBCUs in the state (including St. Augustine’s University, Shaw University, Fayetteville State University, and North Carolina Central University)
· Design and lead campus civic engagement activities on campus, including organizing campuses around pro-democracy events and actions
· Build and maintain relationships with campus faculty and administration, and with community partners
· Recruit and supervise Common Cause North Carolina’s student Democracy Fellows to support our campus organizing activities
Promote our work to drive engagement
· Assist in the creation of appropriate civic engagement resources and related promotional materials to educate and to and promote campus activities and events
· Utilize new digital organizing tactics including but not limited to the Voter Access Network, Relay, and the Relational Voter Program
Provide administrative support
· Provide weekly activities reports
· Support funder needs and fundraising activities, as needed
· Participate in external and internal Common Cause NC meetings, events and actions as needed
