Common Heart is Hiring a Major Nonprofit Program Director Near Indian, NC

Common Heart's Economic Empowerment Director is responsible for all aspects of our Bridges Out of Poverty based initiatives including program development, management, administration, procurement, and record keeping. The Economic Empowerment Director supervises a team of 2 employees and works with other members of our staff, volunteers and partners to accomplish the goals of the initiative.
Each year 100 local family leaders participate in our Economic Empowerment initiative and activities including the initial 50 hour Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin-By World group, followed by Life Coaching, our innovative Emergency Savings Incentive Plan, Stability and Growth workshops, and community workshops.
The Economic Empowerment Director must become thoroughly conversant in Bridges Out of Poverty framework and constructs and be able to communicate and use them as guiding principles for the development, implementation and management of the program. The Economic Empowerment Director must embrace Common Heart’s core values of loving, serving and empowering our neighbors with kindness and compassion.
Desired Experience
  • 3 years of demonstrated ability to manage a human serivices, counseliing, education or coaching program, preferably in a nonprofit or church environment.
  • 3 years of human service related experience working with low income families.
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Experience utilizing volunteers and partners to support program and build community.
  • Strong organizational skills in managing complex tasks
  • High level of attention to detail, creative problem solving abilities
  • Provide and maintain confidentiality of all services
  • Ability to stay relaxed in the face of other people’s distress. Maintain proper boundaries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including computer & email skills. Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. A familiarity with Google Apps versions of these products are helpful.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
Qualificationtions

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • A background check, reference check and drug screening is required for this position.
Founded in 2006, Common Heart works to create a “small revolution of kindness” in our community to eradicate food insecurity and eliminate generational poverty. Common Heart serves under-resourced families and individuals who live in Union County, NC and the surrounding area through 14 food pantry outreaches serving an average 6,500 individuals each month. Our Economic Empowerment programs provide focus groups and resource building programs, helping move more than 100 under-resourced families annually into stability.
