**Overview**

At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body mind and spirit of every person in a more comfortable less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services heart and vascular care emergency services surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.

**Responsibilities**

**J** **OB** **S** **UMMARY** **/ P** **URPOSE:**

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below.

Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.

**Job Responsiblities:**

**Evidence-based Practice (EBP) and Patient Care:** Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum.

I **nterprofessional Collaboration and Communication:** Learns to collaborate and communicate with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

**Leadership: Develops** accountability for own practice, delegated care, and the coordination of care delivery. Behaves in a manner that supports colleagues, and maintains respect, trust and dignity.

**Professionalism** **_:_** Acquires and maintains knowledge in nursing practice and assumes responsibility for the professional development of self.

**Patient Safety** **_:_** Basic understanding and knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.

**Clinical Performance Improvement** **_:_** Basic understanding and knowledge of the factors contributing to quality patient care, and the ability to influence these factors in a positive way.

**Nursing Assessment and Care** **_:_** Basic understanding of and ability to assess ailments and injuries of patients and implement a treatment plan.

**Decision-Making and Critical Thinking** **_:_** Basic understanding and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

**Clinical Skills** **_:_** Basic understanding of and ability to provide clinical skills necessary for patient care, e.g. history taking, therapeutic planning and monitoring, etc., to achieve optimized outcomes in medication therapy and clinical treatment.

**Qualifications**

**Minimum Qualifications:**

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an

Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors degree in Nursing

BSN Preferred

0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience

Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska, Iowa, or nurse licensure compact.

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required upon hire

Additional Certifications may be required based on services provided

**Pay Range**

$33.50 - $48.58 /hour
