  • Responsibilities* Performs ultrasound exams on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols under the direction of the Medical Director; Provides patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test. Performs complete diagnostic imaging test inclusive of positioning patient, equipment management, and documentation of findings.
  • ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
  • Performs ultrasound exams on patients according to the specific departmental procedure protocols under the direction of the Medical Director.
  • Prepares equipment ensuring that it is operational, safe and functioning according to diagnostic standards.
  • Problem‐solves equipment failure and imaging quality and contacts service representative or CES regarding equipment problems.
  • Ensures that daily equipment and room maintenance are performed before/during/ after each procedure, and that special precautions and measures are performed to ensure infection control standards.
  • Completes all quality checks and Ensures that equipment logs are maintained.
  • Completes all clinical supply inventories, ensuring that each diagnostic room is complete with the necessary supplies required to perform the procedure.
  • Demonstrates competency in PACS process and Performs the daily QA process.
  • Actively Participates with patient testing, performing routine, non‐routine, urgent, and emergent patient exams.
  • Communicates with Patient Transportation, Nursing Units, Physician Offices, and other diagnostic areas to ensure that the patients receive their diagnostic procedures in a smooth, efficient and safe manner
  • Performs portable examinations (when applicable) at the bedside to ensure patient safety as well as provide immediate diagnostic testing when needed.
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to Accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information with medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, emotional and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographers care.
  • Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound suite.
  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
  • Maintains a daily log of patient’s seen/ completes exam‐billing forms.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and Maintains adequate supplies.
  • Participates in the maintenance of the ultrasound accreditation.
  • Qualifications*
  • Education and Experience Required:*
  • Associate’s Degree preferred
  • Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or ARRT
  • CPR/BLS certification with American Heart Association
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
  • Good alpha/numeric dexterity and handwriting skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for communication with patients, visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
