Description
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Continuous Improvement and Support, Division of Innovation, Innovation Strategies Branch has an opening for an Education Program Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Under the general direction of a Division Director, the Program Manager supervises staff in the Innovative Strategies Branch of the Division of Innovation. The role involves developing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring various programs and initiatives as part of the branch and division’s broader goals.
  • Program Development and Supervision: Supervise general responsibilities for time and work management of professional staff in the Innovative Strategies Branch. Oversee the development of action plans and progress monitoring for programs that aim to create more learner-centered systems and learning experiences including the Kentucky Innovative Learning Network (KY ILN), Local Laboratories of Learning (L3s), Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI), Portrait of a Learner, project-based learning, student micro-credentialing, and any new initiatives. Revise and enhance guidance, resources, and data collection processes for implementation to effectively support the rollout of emerging programs and personalized, competency-based learning initiatives across Kentucky districts. Ensure alignment of branch efforts with Kentucky’s United We Learn vision.
  • Outreach and Collaboration: Serve on committees, councils, and other partnerships at the request of the Division Director. Provide regular communication and opportunities to learn about the branch’s work and priorities to local, state, and national audiences. Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance the impact of educational programs.
  • Support for Learner-Centered Practices: Promote learner-centered education models that address the diversity of students’ backgrounds, strengths, and needs. Support the implementation of plans and processes developed by local schools, districts, and communities.
  • Provide technical assistance to schools and districts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Six years of professional experience in education, career and technical education, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Work is typically performed in an office or school setting. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
