Description
Investigator II's carry a special position of trust and are expected to conduct themselves and their work in accordance with standards set forth in the Office of Attorney General policies and guidelines, and to operate within the applicable statutes and regulations.
As an Investigator II within the Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse, cases assigned will be related to:
  • Medicaid Provider Fraud
  • The abuse, neglect and exploitation of vulnerable adults who reside in Medicaid funded facilities or Board and Care homes.
Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to:
  • Possess and maintain a Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) law enforcement officer certification through the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.
  • Required to carry and/or use a firearm.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to produce quality written reports.
  • Ability to assimilate large volumes of information in order to successfully investigate complicated and multifaceted white-collar cases.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years experience in the field of investigative law enforcement or a related field of investigation.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 21 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Employees in this classification are subject to the provisions of KRS Chapter 15 and 503 KAR 1:140 relating to peace officer certification as administered by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. For additional information please refer to: Kentucky Revised Statutes - Chapter 15 503 Chapter 1 Regulation 140 Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
May work irregular hours due to nature of investigative work. Will be required to travel in the course of investigations. May be exposed to dangerous situations and makes physical arrests. Works in all types of weather.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
