THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a seasonal Energy Assistance Worker at the Huntingdon County Assistance Office to help Pennsylvanians receive the benefits for which they qualify through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) .

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As Energy Assistance Workers you will be processing initial benefit applications as well as CRISIS applications for LIHEAP.
This opportunity offers a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6 to 8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
Extensive training will be provided to equip you with the skills needed to perform duties such as interviewing clients, acting as a liaison with heating vendors, reviewing and completing applications received in order to recommend approval or disapproval of benefits consistent with federal and state regulations.
The majority of the job is completion work through data entry. Work assignments are limited in scope and performed under close supervision of an Income Maintenance Casework Supervisor who reviews work for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to the program regulations.
In addition, you may perform other related duties as assigned.
