General Information:
The Education Support Center (ESC) is committed to being an inclusive one-stop shop for admissions to teacher education, academic advising, field experience and licensure services. The mission is to collaborate with professional education programs and P-12 partners to support, develop, and positively impact diverse education candidates as they engage in transformative learning experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Support Assistant is a team member in the Education Support Center (ESC). This role reports to the Executive Director of Teacher Education and Student Success and works closely with the Education Support Technician, Field Experience Team and Advising Team to support education programs at James Madison University. The Education Support Assistant is responsible for the following:
• Customer service management for the ESC including managing a high volume of communications with students and faculty and sending Word mail merges and Canvas announcements
• Office management of ESC including ordering supplies and hiring and supervising student staff
• Fiscal management of ESC budgets
• Event management for ESC related meetings and workshops
• Provide administrative support to the Executive Director
• Support teacher education admissions and licensure data entry for accuracy and timeliness in multiple systems
• Support admissions and licensure reports
• Work collaboratively with ESC team members and programs
• Provide administrative support for projects and activities in the ESC
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a particular focus on Word and Excel
• Proven attention to detail, resourcefulness, and time management skills
• Previous experience with efficient office practices, including a high level of customer service skills and an ability to work effectively with others
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem solving skills in a fast paced work environment with the ability to prioritize and organize tasks
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Additional considerations:
• Experience with Peoplesoft Student Administration, QuestionPro, Canvas, and MS Teams
• Experience with data management systems
• P-12 School System experience
