General Information:

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Garage Assistant Supervisor. This is a day shift with overtime as required to cover special events and inclement weather.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise the South Main Garage employees to ensure efficient coordination and guidance for team members.
• Provide feedback to the Garage Supervisor on the day-to-day schedules and operations of the South Main Garage.
• Consistently and clearly communicates essential information to the team.
• Ensures a clear weekly/monthly schedule is maintained.
• Ensures vehicles are serviced promptly with minimal downtime.
• Coordinates the daily repairs of additional overflow work needs that are generated from walk-in and emergency/breakdown repairs.
• Assists with documentation in a timely manner.
• Provide guidance and perform preventive maintenance and state inspections.
• Assist the Garage Supervisor with managing the fuel program.

Qualifications:

• Strong mechanical and electronic background.
• Strong supervisory skills in the management of others.
• Ability to plan and schedule repairs.
• The ability to manage repair data in an automated cmms maintenance management system.
• The ability and skill to manage a multi-task work environment.
• Must possess certification as a motor vehicle safety inspector.
• Must be 19 years of age with a valid driver’s license held for a minimum of 24 months with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
• Must obtain a valid CDL Class B Driver’s License with P (passenger) endorsement within one year of hire.
