DGS’s Division of Office of Facilities Management (OFM) is a customer-focused organization whose primary function is to provide a quality environment for the approximately 75 state agencies that occupy the facilities overseen by DGS, which includes over 40 buildings and about 6.45 million square feet of buildings and grounds at the seat of government. BFM strives to ensure tenants enjoy a clean, safe, efficient, and comfortable environment in and around the buildings it manages.
Want to be a part of our dedicated housekeeping team that maintains beautiful, historic state offices located on the Capitol Complex? We are seeking three Housekeeping Inspectors, you will ensure a clean, safe & healthy environment for tenants occupying the facilities owned by the Commonwealth of Virginia by conducting walk-throughs of assigned properties. You will physically inspect contract custodial services that are performed by the contract vendor. This is an evening-shift position; the hours of work are 3: 45 PM to 11:45 PM.
Candidates for this position will also be considered for position number EC080, EC385, and EC122.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and training of cleaning techniques, methods, materials, equipment for a wide variety of surfaces and materials.
Knowledge of safety practices in the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies is essential.
Knowledge of power cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and vacuums.
Must have the ability to evaluate the work of contract personnel and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to lift/push/pull heavy objects; to stand/walk for extended periods; and to perform manual labor. Must be able to routinely lift, push, or pull 20 pounds and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work assigned schedule of 3:45 pm – 11:45 pm; some weekend and holiday work required.
Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict management skills, and strong attention to detail are required.
Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks including sweeping, dusting, mopping, and floor care when necessary.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relations with others.
Ability to manage time effectively.
A valid Virginia driver's license is required.

Additional Considerations

Previous supervisory and/or housekeeping inspection experience is preferred.
