Job Description

Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) features a unique curriculum that integrates the four value domains of Clinical Science, Basic Science, Research, and Health Systems Science and Interprofessional Practice across the educational experience. The Instructional Manager will administer, coordinate, and manage the overall day-to-day operations of instructional courses and experiences. We seek a Manager with a growth mindset to join the VTCSOM team and support our educational mission: “To inspire a community of learning that embraces unique learner characteristics and cultivates lifelong learners and health systems thinkers positioned to improve healthcare through inquiry and humility.” As VTCSOM launches new curricular structures for enhanced learning, the manager will collaborate with other instructional managers and faculty to ensure learning and skill development are integrated across the medical education continuum.
This position will work closely with faculty and administrative support staff to ensure the successful implementation of the curriculum in Phase 1 and the achievement of educational and administrative deliverables. It will also work closely with all curriculum phases, and teamwork will be instrumental in its success.

Required Qualifications

A master’s degree in fields related to education, applied sciences, or instructional
technology; or a Bachelor’s degree in education, applied sciences, instructional technology, or
related field educational field with significant work experience in the field.
Experience in an academic setting with project-based initiatives, curriculum, and learning support.
Experience delivering exceptional written and verbal communications across different formats to various stakeholders.
Experience with typical office software including word processing, spreadsheets, database creation, and management and presentation software.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with applied and integrated educational approaches
Experience with curriculum and learning design
Experience with satisfying the requirements of accrediting bodies
Experience in event planning and event communication
Strategic thinker with the ability to nurture and develop long-term partnerships with diverse colleagues
