THE POSITION

The Northeastern Readiness Center in Carbondale is searching for a Maintenance Repairman 2 to perform maintenance and repair duties in the electrical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and painting trades.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform maintenance and repair duties throughout the center. Your duties will require you to operate and maintain both manual and power tools of the trade on a regular basis. You will perform rough and finish carpentry work on ceilings, walls, windows, and doors; prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces; install and repair various fixtures including sinks, faucets, and water heaters; cut and solder pipe; install and replace electric circuits and panels, wall plugs, and lighting fixtures; mix and pour concrete; and repair as well as service heating and cooling systems throughout the facility. Additionally, you will remove snow, ice, and debris from all exterior surfaces of the property, as well as mow grass and maintain the landscaping.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel may occasionally be as required. Work hours and travel requirements may change based on operational need.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid PA noncommercial Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • Willingness to work in Carbondale, Pennsylvania
  • Completion of any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades? (Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steam fitting/pipefitting, refrigeration/HVAC, painting, roofing/tinsmith, drywall/plasterer, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems.)
  • Experience in commercial carpentry
  • Experience in the plumbing trade
  • Experience in the electrical trade
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems
  • Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring including emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as it relates to repairs of buildings
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
