Commtech Services Inc is Hiring a Maintenance Mechanic (7717) Near Pompton Lakes, NJ

Job DescriptionMaintenance MechanicHours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work on Saturdays.
Job Summary: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all production equipment, ensuring they are in safe, sanitary, and efficient working condition. This role involves performing various maintenance tasks to support the production floor and the entire facility, including day-to-day repairs and upgrades. Staying current on new products, equipment, technology, and techniques is also essential.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems to ensure a continuous supply of heat, steam, cooling, electrical power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Be readily available for emergency repairs during breakdown situations.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Complete work orders promptly while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Use various hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees, notifying them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out clearly, legibly, and accurately, and completed with the required information.
  • Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOPs.
  • Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to the Supervisor.
  • Utilize a continuous improvement mindset to assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Follow all required work-safe practices, including lock-out-tag-out requirements and wearing all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, adhering to all OSHA requirements.
  • Work with the Safety Committee to ensure any critical items are addressed immediately.
  • Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by Management and the Company.
Required Qualifications:
  • HS diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree or Technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in a manufacturing environment as a preventive maintenance person.
  • Proven ability in recognizing and correcting equipment problems in hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, valves, pumps, compressors, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of machine electrical controls, including PLCs, HMIs, motor drivers, sensors, etc.
  • Must have a current forklift certification.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written specifications, procedures, blueprints, drawings, electrical schematics, and diagrams to repair equipment or diagnose problems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Experience in mechanical measurement and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Must be able to perform basic plumbing, carpentry, masonry, electrical, machine repair, plant layout, painting, janitorial, and general construction skills.
  • Familiarity with and use of all hand tools and power tools common to the skills listed.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment downtime.
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, OEM instructions, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with and compliance with all general safety procedures and OSHA standards, Lock-Out-Tag-Out, HAZMAT, Forklift Safety, PPE requirements, etc.
  • Ability to comply with regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Effective teamwork, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Electrical and/or plumbing license is preferred.
  • No travel is required for this job.
Environmental/Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Physical requirement to lift/move items up to 65 lbs
