What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director of OB/GYN position at CommuniCare Health Center?
The Associate Director of OB / GYN provides quality, comprehensive outpatient and in-patient primary health care services to the Center's OB / GYN patients and abiding by appropriate clinical protocols. Reports directly to the Director of OB / GYN regarding clinical issues and activities related to the delivery of medical care. Responsible for addressing department Provider concerns or issues at designated site to include supervising clinicians and conducting performance evaluations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Examines, diagnoses, treats and / or refers patients assigned to physician's panel, on an in-patient and out-patient basis (as per individual employment agreements); prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assess medical conditions. Assures continuity of care by providing medical services on a timely basis as per Clinic schedule within the Center's scope of practice and the mid-levels training.
2. Responsible for working with the VP & Chief Clinical Officer to assure that the mission and vision of CommuniCare is communicated and practiced by the medical providers assigned and that optimal productivity, patient satisfaction and service excellence scores are achieved and best practices to the medical providers that they are assigned.
3. Participate in the interviewing and recommendation for the hiring, retaining, coaching, disciplining and termination of providers. Works with the Director of OB / GYN to ensure appropriate clinical assignments, fair rotation and call schedules, holiday clinic schedules and adequate provider coverage at respective clinical sites.
4. Responsible for assuring each assigned medical provider is functioning at 100% productivity, providing excellent clinical outcomes and completing assigned chart audits (Peer Record Review) in a timely manner.
5. Trains and mentors' Residents / Medical Students / Nurse Practitioners, and clinical support staff engaged in activities and procedures, as appropriate.
6. Follows established departmental and clinic policies, procedures, and objectives; continuous quality improvements objectives and safety, environmental, and / or infection control standards. Maintains appropriate productivity standards of specialty as established by the Center; maintains appropriate and efficient patient flow and minimize schedule changes and absences.
7. Supports the organization by participating in at least two (2) health promotional, education and / or prevention programs (i.e. Diabetes collaborative / Health Fairs etc.) or organizational events (i.e. Annual Gala, Wellness Program, Annual giving drive, CommuniCaring for Each Other, etc.) Lastly, punctually attending and participating monthly / departmental meetings and other clinic functions as required by the Center.
8. Work with the Operations Division Leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate designated clinic site ensuring efficient, effective, and continuous improvement in clinical operation. Directly responsible for assigned provider performance appraisals, advocates provider concerns and issues, and monitors standards of performance and quality of patient care through a peer review system.
9. Works with the Director of OB / GYN to generate and / or recommend medical protocols to govern the delivery of clinical care throughout the Center that are consistent with standards of care; participates in analysis of community health problems and in the development of the Center's Strategic Plan and other Project Plans, develops and reviews the Center's budget, fee schedules and staffing patterns appropriate for patient care.
10. Takes call after hours and on weekends on a rotation basis with other providers and responds appropriately and on a timely manner to after hour calls.
11. Reviews patient satisfaction survey of your clinical staff to check for trends of any unfavorable quality practice or issue and recommend corrective action; assure that patient satisfaction surveys are at 94% or above for each medical provider. Provides excellent internal / external customer service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs.
12. Completes thorough documentation of each patient's visit in the electronic health record and ensures encounters are closed within 24 hours in accordance with the Center's established Health Information Management policies and procedures.
13. Addresses UDS and HEDIS clinical measures at all patient visits and attain the highest compliance rates which are tracked daily on the dash boards.
14. Daily review of PAQ's (lab and x-ray reports for patients under his / her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately) Assure coverage of PAQ's when out of office or on PTO. Refers clients for appropriate specialty care services and any other ancillary services that are appropriate for patient's management and care consulting with supervising physician as needed.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited Medical School
Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Texas
Minimum 3 years' experience as an OB / GYN physician
Minimum 3 years' experience supervising clinicians
Strong experience with EMR / EMR systems
Knowledge of budgets and fiscal management
Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty
Must be registered and have current DEA and other such certificates to legally operate a practitioner in the State of Texas
Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals if required for specialty
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association

Physical : Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 25 lbs; push and pull up to 45 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.
