Communicare KY is Hiring a Substance Abuse Specialist Near Elizabethtown, KY

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direct behavioral health care counseling and consultation services to Communicare consumers.

QUALIFICATIONS: One year of firsthand experience with substance abuse, coupled with specialized training in substance abuse intervention. Additionally, possessing a minimum of two years' involvement in community-based service provision for individuals grappling with severe mental illness (SMI).

SKIL SETS: Demonstrates superior oral and written communication skills. Possesses a basic knowledge of computers. Other demonstrated skills are problem analysis, resolution and superior customer service skills.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Visual acuity necessary for updating files and completing documents. Requires frequent stooping and kneeling. Hearing and talking is necessary to answer phone and talk with employees, clients, members of their family, or other professionals. Works while walking, standing, and sitting. Manual dexterity is required to perform computer functions. Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens, biohazardous waste, hazardous waste, and communicable diseases.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

  • Make referrals to appropriate levels of care and additional services as needed.
  • Consult with referral sources to coordinate and collaborate on treatment plans as needed.
  • Consult ACT Treatment team when making treatment decisions and responsibility.
  • Develops therapeutic, supportive relationships with severely mentally ill client population.
  • Follows all applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of treatment plan development.
  • Participates in diagnostic and treatment planning meetings.
  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
  • Develop and facilitate substance abuse/use educational groups.
  • Assists in the evaluation of program referrals.
  • Understand and advise addicts and alcoholics on how drugs or alcohol affects special health considerations.
  • Maintains professional conduct to facilitate coordination of all clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Stay informed and in touch with community resources and support groups.
  • Be aware of the signs of recidivism.
  • Discover the underlying cause of addiction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Adheres to Communicare, Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
