Communications Collaborative is Hiring a PR & Media Relations Manager Near Bergen, NJ

Our metro New Jersey healthcare client is hiring a PR & Media Relations Manager (Contract). Be responsible for championing the organization’s brand through public communications and media relations. This includes maintaining and growing a media presence across all business/trade and news outlets/channels (print, broadcast (TV and radio) and social media) in the metro NY/NJ area and actively monitoring all outlet/channel activity. This is initially a 15-20 hours/week, open-ended contract role that could grow over time. Offsite is an option but does require an experienced professional with solid metro NY/NJ area media contacts.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing, growing, managing, and monitoring presence for organization’s newsworthy stories
  • Creating timely, unique, relevant content and sharing communications about the organization progress and updates on appropriate channels
  • Expanding and maintaining relations with local, regional, and national business/trade and news outlets
  • Understanding news cycles and knowing how to maximize them for ultra story reach
  • Assisting in the development of stakeholder and community engagement plans
  • Counseling members of the leadership team prior their appearance in the press as a representative of organization in the public eye
  • Writing tight pitches, op-eds, media plans, blogs, podcasts, and other relevant materials
  • Preparing briefing documents prior to media and public appearances
  • Securing coverage for major organization events such as groundbreakings, medical initiatives, new practice openings, etc.
  • Understanding and building target customer profiles to increase visibility of and participation in numerous annual and ad-hoc campaigns
  • Making decisions on media inquiries consistent with organizations priorities and commitments
  • Collaborating with other internal teams to secure information for content creation
  • Assisting with crisis response
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8-10 years of experience within healthcare in a similar role
  • Ability to develop long-form and short-form content that effectively reaches relevant audiences
  • Comfort and confidence as a spokesperson
  • Responsible, enthusiastic, and cares about working in a mission-focused organization
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, lead, and educate others
  • Experience in people management and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate collaborative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and implement solutions
  • Willingness to be held accountable and receive feedback
  • Comfortability with technology including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
