Summary

The Gift Specialist is responsible forgift processing, tax acknowledgement, constituent record management, data integritydatabase management and hygiene, and reporting. The Gift Specialist provides a high-level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders as it relates to all manner of gifts received.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform gift processing, gift adjustments, refunds, disputes, and chargebacks in a timely manner
  • Prepare tax acknowledgement or thank you letters for appropriate gifts
  • Set up new contacts and accounts as well as funds ensuring the proper attributes and relationships are reflected
  • Ensure gift processing operations adhere to IRS gift substantiation requirements
  • Develop reports for internal and external customers related to gifts, accounts and funds, as directed
  • Collaborate with accounting staff to reconcile monthly, quarterly and yearly gift activity within CRM, financial and other systems
  • Serve as liaison to external partner campaigns
  • Identify continuous improvement and process automation efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Skills / Requirements

  • Five years of experience working with accounting, financial and accounts receivable processes
  • Experience related to supporting members of a non-profit or association with heavy focus on gift recording procedures
  • Current working knowledge of IRS gift substantiation requirements
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working with Salesforce preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or relative work experience required
  • Highly detail oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, as well as independently
  • Ability to use discretion when handling sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong professional and interpersonal skills
  • Solid quantitative, problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to drive solutions
  • Self-directed, self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Must be able to successfully pass a credit check
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously to meet deadlines and achieve organizational goals and department priorities
