Community Academy of Science and Health is Hiring a Special Education Program Director [CASH] (BASAS 9A) (SY24-25) Near Roxbury, MA

General Description and Goals:

The Special Education Program Director is responsible for providing school-wide leadership and support in the following areas: implementation of city-wide learning standards, development and implementation of city-wide assessments, program development, professional development, and grant development and management. The Program Director is supported by central SPED. The Program Director supports an array of citywide professional development activities.
Reports to: Principal
Responsibilities:
1. Implementation of Citywide Learning Standards:
a. Support, monitor, and report on the implementation of the standards
2. Professional Development
a. Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of an effective, year-round, city-wide, and school-based professional development program.
b. Lead and collaborate with partners on all Mathematics grants and professional development activities
c. Monitor the effectiveness of school-based mathematics programs city-wide, and support instructional leaders in their program and professional development efforts.
3. Curriculum/Instructional Materials
a. Coordinate the identification and adoption of high-quality instructional materials
b. Supervise the distribution, collection, and refurbishment, and inventory of materials managed by the SPED dept.
4. Resource Development and Management:
a. Identify, secure, and manage funds for mathematics initiatives in collaboration with partner institutions.
5. Prepare annual program plans and budgets for the utilization of all city and external funds
6. Perform other related duties as requested by supervisors
Qualifications - Required

  1. Education: Master s Degree and Administrative Certification
  2. Teacher Certification in the Field of SPED
  3. Demonstrated experience and expertise as a SPED administrator
  4. Strong organizational and management skills
  5. Demonstrate success working with teachers and/or administrators in a leadership and professional development capacity.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills
  7. Strong writing skills

Qualifications - Preferred

  1. Advanced degree
  2. Successful experience working in an urban setting
  3. Demonstrated success with grant development
  4. Strong background in instructional and management technology
  5. BPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity. BPS is particularly interested in candidates who are fluent in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali.

The start and end times of BPS schools vary, as do the lengths of the school day. Some BPS schools have a longer school day through the "Schedule A" Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
